Born and raised in New York City, Kiara was given the opportunity to grow up in a melting pot of cultures. After discovering that the singer of her favorite video game theme song was Japanese she instantly fell in love with the language. Soon after, she was introduced to Japanese drama and was picking up simple common phrases she caught from character dialogue. Upon graduating high school she took classes on and off at ABC Languages and began working at a soba restaurant in New York City, soon after moving in with a coworker from Osaka and developing a strange mix of keigo and Kansai-ben.
Kiara has used her Japanese skills to manage several restaurants, complete a marketing internship in Tokyo, become a tour guide, a restaurant consultant, an interpreter, a TV personality and a dialect coach.
She is best known for her work as a New York based reporter for the long-running Japanese variety show, Waratte Koraete (1億人の大質問!?笑ってコラえて!|日本テレビ) and her appearances on Osaka-based morning news program, CE MATIN! (朝生ワイド す・またん!|読売テレビ).
This year she aims to broaden her horizons by finally starting her YouTube channel, actively pursuing more television work, and increasing her dialect coaching clientele.
